Iran, DR Congo call for enhanced ties

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has called for more interactions between the Islamic Republic and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Ahmadinejad made the remarks in a meeting with Congolese Communications Minister Lambert Mende Omalanga in the Iranian capital Tehran on Tuesday.

The Iranian president urged closer bilateral cooperation in all spheres, particularly in cultural issues.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ahmadinejad said that Iran and DR Congo are in the same front against the hegemonic powers of the world, noting that the justice-seeking nations of the two countries have always put up resistance against the bullying powers.

Omalanga, for his part, voiced his country’s willingness to increase the level of ties between Tehran and Kinshasa.

Earlier in the day, Omalanga and Iranian Culture Minister Mohammad Hosseini signed three Memorandums of Understanding on cooperation in culture, cinema and news exchange.

During the meeting, Hosseini expressed hope that the agreements and exchanging delegates would lead to better cultural relations.
