Two high-profile judges martyred in a terrorist assault in central Tehran

In a brazen act of violence, two prominent Iranian judges were killed in a terrorist shooting at the Supreme Court's headquarters located in the heart of Tehran.

In an official announcement, the Judiciary has named Ali Razini as the head of Branch 39 of the Supreme Court, alongside Mohammad Moqiseh, who leads Branch 53.

A gunman entered the chambers of two veteran judges shortly before noon on Saturday and fatally shot them, according to Judiciary spokesman Asghar Jahangir. The spokesman also reported that a bodyguard assigned to the judges sustained injuries during the incident.

“The shooter took his own life while fleeing the scene, and authorities have stated that it is currently too early to speculate on his motives,” he reported.

The judiciary presided over proceedings involving offenses related to national security, espionage, and terrorism.

Jahangir stated that the Razini and Moqiseh martyrs have consistently been the focus of animosity from adversaries due to their distinguished achievements.

Jahangir stated that over the past year, the Judiciary has implemented significant steps to uncover espionage and deceitful groups, actions that have subsequently fueled anger and resentment among adversaries.

The Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO), known for its extensive history of assassinations and terrorist bombings, is often labeled as hypocrites within Iran.

Jahangir expressed confidence in swiftly releasing the outcomes of ongoing investigations aimed at apprehending the individuals implicated in the terrorist incident.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the assailant had no prior involvement in cases before the Supreme Court, authorities have confirmed.

Over the past year, the Iranian judiciary has implemented a series of actions aimed at identifying, apprehending, and prosecuting individuals and groups linked to Israel, the United States, and various terrorist organizations.

Razini, aged 71, has held numerous significant roles within Iran’s judiciary. He was the target of an assassination attempt in 1998, when attackers affixed a magnetic explosive device to his vehicle.
