Iran FM states that there presently no plan for negotiations with the United States

In a recent interview with Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, a prominent London-based pan-Arab news organization, Araghchi delved into a range of pressing issues on Tuesday. The conversation covered the ongoing situation in Syria, the conflict in Gaza, Iran’s nuclear discussions with European nations, as well as dialogue with the United States.
Iran’s Foreign Minister announced intentions to visit Russia for discussions on the evolving situation in Syria, highlighting Tehran’s significant preparations aimed at de-escalation and fostering an initiative towards a lasting resolution.
A representative from the Islamic Republic of Iran stated that the nation continually pursues consultation and dialogue with Turkey to address their differences. He emphasized that the escalating activities of terrorist organizations in Syria could represent a more significant threat to the country’s neighboring states, including Iraq, Jordan, and Turkey, compared to Iran.
In the context of ongoing efforts to mend diplomatic ties between Syria and Turkiye, diplomat Araghchi emphasized that the withdrawal of Turkish troops from Syrian territory stands as a sensible precondition for any forthcoming talks between Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
He further underscored that should the Syrian government formally seek military assistance from Iran, Tehran is prepared to evaluate the possibility of deploying troops to the region.
He stated that Iran does not exert control over resistance groups in Arab nations and lacks formal organizational connections with them. Nonetheless, Iran endorses their cause and offers support when needed.
In other parts of his speech, the senior Iranian diplomat addressed the relationship between Iran and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that their bilateral ties are progressing positively and remain unaffected by the current dynamics between Iran and the United States.
Araghchi conveyed a sense of pessimism concerning the ongoing negotiations with European nations over Iran’s nuclear program, citing numerous reasons for a bleak outlook on the talks.
Araghchi reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran presently has no plans to enter discussions with Washington, citing a lack of basis for dialogue. He highlighted that Iran is awaiting the implementation of policies by the new U.S. administration before deciding on its own diplomatic stance.
