Larijani : Peoples Aware of Reactionary Regimes’ Negative Roles against Syria

20130514-162426_h482159Iran’s Shura Council Speaker, Ali Larijani, said the course of the ongoing events has revealed the negative roles exercised by Western states and reactionary regimes against Syria.

Larijani, during the council’s session on Tuesday, affirmed that the peoples of the region, under the current circumstances, have become conscious of these negative roles and will not allow the continued hegemony of the arrogant powers.

He noted that Iran, since the beginning of the crisis in Syria called for the adoption of political solutions rather than the policy of inflaming wars between sons of the one people, blaming the West for shedding of the Syrian blood through its tools represented by the armed terrorist groups.

Larijani considered that the leaders of the United States and Europe have confessed frankly that they have lost the reins of power through their announcement of the need to adopt political solutions as the sole option to get out of the crisis in Syria after more than two years.

Salehi Reiterates Iran’s Support to Political Solution to Crisis in Syria

Iranian Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi, called for finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria through dialogue between the government and the opposition, warning that any political vacuum in Syria or fragmentation would affect the whole region.

In statements to newspapers on Monday during his participation in the meeting of the Ministerial Contact Group on Mali, Salehi said, “If any vacuum happened or if Syria was fragmented, the crisis would spread to all regional countries which have got enough on their plate.”

Salehi stressed Iran’s support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, calling on all sides to follow Iran in this regard.

The Iranian Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of letting the Syrian people decide their destiny based on the norms of international relations which give the right to all peoples to decide their destiny.

He expressed his country’s hope that the U.S.-Russian rapprochement on the crisis in Syria would help resolve the crisis in peaceful ways.

Salehi added that there are disagreements between Iran and Saudi Arabia on several issues, pointing out that he met with the Saudi foreign minister in Jeddah for two hours yesterday and discussed the bilateral relations and the developments in the region.

Abdollahian : US Support to Terrorists in Syria Endangers Security of Whole Region

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs, Hossein Amir- Abdollahian, said that supporting terrorism and sending weapons to the armed groups in Syria threatens the regions’ security.

” We warned America more than once of the consequences of its support to the terrorists in Syria and sending weapons to them because this endangers the security of the region as a whole.” Abdollahian told Al-Alam TV Channel on Tuesday.

Abdollahian added that the fault of the US President, since the beginning of the intervention in Syria, is his call on the legitimate President of Syria to step down, which is an issue related to the will of the Syrian people who only has the right to take such a decision.
