Iran govt. follows ‘united’ policy on UK

Iran’s Intelligence Ministry said Sunday that it holds the same opinion as the Foreign Ministry on plans to reduce relations with the British government for interfering in the country’s internal affairs.

Intelligence Minister Heidar Moslehi told reporters when it comes to defending the nation, the two ministries are united in standing up to the countries that threaten Iran’s national security.

“The government follows a united policy,” Moslehi was quoted by Tabnak as saying.

Hossein Sobhani-Niya, a member of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said Saturday that the two ministries were working out the details of a bill that will reduce ties between Tehran and London.

“Deputies in the Foreign Ministry and the Intelligence Ministry by some means hold the same views on reducing the ties,” Sobhani-Niya said. “But they have different takes on cutting the ties.”

Iran accuses the UK of instigating violence and threatening the national security of the country following the presidential election in June, as well as supporting anti-Iran terrorist groups.

The UK rejects the charges and has criticized Iran’s decision to reduce bilateral ties.
