Iran has 20-percent n-fuel for Tehran research reactor for next few years: Salehi

Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Ali-Akbar Salehi said on Friday that Iran has reserved 20-percent nuclear fuel for Tehran research reactor so that it can work non-stop for a few more years.

Speaking to IRNA, Salehi said that nearly five years ago Tehran asked world powers to provide the country with 20-percent nuclear fuel for its research reactor.
He went on to say that “such a request meant that Iran had no intention to produce nuclear fuel, but as they refused to do so and set conditions which would damage the country’s national sovereignty, Tehran decided to do it by itself.”
“We will lose nothing by a six-month suspension”, Salehi said, reiterating that if the West fails to fulfill its commitments, Iran can resume production of 20-percent nuclear fuel whenever it decides.
Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran stressed that Iran continues to enrich uranium up to 5 percent while suspension of 20-percent enrichment is a voluntary measure that could be halted if the other side breaks its promises.
Ali-Akbar Salehi once again referred to a Fatwa (religious ruling) issued by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei banning the manufacture, stockpiling and use of nuclear weapons as an indication of peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program.
