Iran launches 1st Kurdish news agency

Iran has launched its first Kurdish-language news agency with the purpose of giving news coverage to the most important regional and international developments.

The “Kurdpress International News Agency” started working on Saturday on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

The managing director of the private news agency, Ali Hadifar, said the news agency will work in the framework of the Islamic Republic’s laws to reflect regional news and events, with Kurdish regions top on the priority list, IRNA reported.

“Kurdpress covers news about international events, particularly those related to Iran, Turkey and Iraq in three languages of Farsi, Kurdish and English,” he further explained.

The news agency can be seen on the internet at: www.kurdpress.com .

The agency’s headquarters is located in western Iranian city of Sanandaj, capital of Iran’s Kurdestan province.
