Iran might deters US, Israel only blustering: Iranian cmdr.

shamsara20130418134342227 (1)Iran’s top commander has dismissed as “bluster” the Israeli war threats against Iran, adding that the US will not attack Iran either for fear of the Islamic Republic’s military prowess.

“Considering the might of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Armed Forces, the US will not enter into war with Iran,” Iran’s Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Hassan Firouzabadi said on the sidelines of the country’s Army Day parade in the capital city of Tehran on Thursday.

During the parade, Iran unveiled a number of indigenous military achievements, including a stealth unmanned aerial vehicle, two missile systems and a mobile electronic interception system.

Firouzabadi also described Israel’s military threats against Iran as mere “bluster” which should not be taken seriously.

“We have complete confidence in the capabilities of our country’s Armed Forces, and not only can we protect Iran, but also the entire region,” the Iranian commander added.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.

Tehran has repeatedly assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to other countries, insisting that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.

In response to a question about the possibility of Iran’s military involvement in Syria, Firouzabadi said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran will not dispatch troops and [military] equipment overseas; our support for the [anti-Israeli] resistance [movement] is political, technological and educational.”

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011, and many people, including large numbers of Syrian army and security personnel, have been killed in the violence.

The Syrian government says the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country and there are reports that a very large number of the militants fighting in the country are foreign nationals.
