Iran, P5+1 to reach final conclusion in Moscow: Official

A senior Iranian official says Tehran and the six world powers of the P5+1 will reach a “final conclusion” in their upcoming talks in Moscow.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran and the P5+1 group will reach a final conclusion regarding mutual cooperation in the upcoming talks in Moscow,” Secretary of Iran’s Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei said on Thursday.

“That the West and the US have taken the nuclear negotiations with Iran very seriously and are attempting for the talks to reach a conclusion is a positive and winning card for our establishment,” he added.

Rezaei added that the Islamic Republic has pursued a “logical path” in its nuclear energy activities over the previous years and all those efforts are now beginning to bear fruit.

“The officials of the country (Iran)’s diplomacy apparatus should attend the future talks with particular delicacy and advance the talks based on national interests,” he added.

Iran and the P5+1- Britain, China, France, Russia, and the United States plus Germany – held three sessions of plenary talks in Baghdad on May 23 and 24 after an earlier round of negotiations in the Turkish city of Istanbul in mid-April.

The two sides agreed to hold another round of talks in Moscow on June 18-19.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Tuesday that the P5+1 must recognize Tehran’s nuclear energy program in the forthcoming talks as the country will not budge from its position.

The Great Satan US and some of its allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear energy program.

Iran has repeatedly dismissed the Western allegations over its nuclear activities, arguing that as a committed signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it has the right to pursue nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
