Iran produces over 1.5 million cars in 11 months

Iranian car manufacturers produced over 1.5 million cars in the first eleven months of this calendar year (started on March 21, 2011).
The figure is about two percent more than that of the same period in last year, the report added.

Iran has developed its domestic car industry over five decades and it produced 1.6 million vehicles last year, about half of them made by Iran Khodro.

The car firm aims to export around 10 percent of its production this year, according to a Reuters report.

Even with the sanctions, which have scared off some suppliers from exporting to Iran, Iran Khodro says sales rose 18 percent in 2010 and plans to raise output this year by 13 percent to 860,000 vehicles.
