Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Calls on Turkey to Account for Failed Militant Withdrawal from Demilitarized Zone

The Damascus Army demanded answers on the failed plan for militants’ withdrawal from the designated buffer zone in Northwestern Syria.

“The Syrian Army’s High Command is in talks with the Russian military about the next steps to take in the Idlib, Aleppo, Lattakia and Hama provinces,” an officer told massdar news from the town of Mhardeh.

The officer said that the Syrian Army’s High Command is now awaiting Turkey’s response to the Russian military’s questions regarding the failed militant withdrawal.

Meantime, the Syrian army continued its military advances in other parts of Syria over the past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in provinces across Syria.

Aleppo-Lattakia-Hama

The Syrian Army is demanding answers regarding the failed plan for militants’ withdrawal from the designated buffer zone in Northwestern Syria, an officer said.

Speaking to massdar news from the town of Mhardeh, the officer said that the Syrian Army’s High Command is in talks with the Russian military about the next steps to take in the Idlib, Aleppo, Lattakia and Hama provinces.

The officer said that the Syrian Army’s High Command is now awaiting Turkey’s response to the Russian military’s questions regarding the failed militant withdrawal.

He would add that the Syrian Army units in Northwest Syria have been on high alert, but they will not likely launch any attack in the next few weeks because they redeployed several divisions to Southern Syria.

Several Syrian Army units, including the elite 4th Armored Division and the 9th Division’s Shock Troops, were recently deployed to Sweida, where they are now leading the charge to end the ISIL’s presence inside the province.

Idlib

The Turkish Army forwarded another convoy of military vehicles to Northern Syria on Tuesday after terrorist groups refused to leave the demilitarized zone specified in the Sochi Agreement.

The army sent a convoy of 10 military, armored and ordonnance vehicles to Northern Idlib via Bab al-Hawa border-crossing.

In the meantime, local sources reported that terrorists of Faylaq al-Sham were accompanying the Turkish convoy, adding that the convoy headed towards monitoring posts run by the Ankara forces.

The Turkish army’s move to dispatch more troops to Syria came after the terrorist groups refrained from complying with the Sochi Agreement and leave the demilitarized zone in Northeastern Lattakia, Southern Idlib and Western Aleppo before the October 15 deadline.

Deir Ezzur

The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) sent troops to Southeastern Deir Ezzur after people in a town in SDF-held region hoisted the Syrian government flag on Tuesday.

Residents of the small town of Abu Hamam in Southeastern Deir Ezzur controlled by the SDF hoisted the Damascus government flag in Mafraq al-Qahavi district.

In the meantime, local sources said SDF’s measures, including forced recruitment, have enraged people in in Deir Ezzur.

Following growing concerns over people’s move in Abu Hamam, the SDF sent 40 military vehicles with almost 100 militias on board to the village of al-Baharah near the town of Hajin in Southeastern Deir Ezzur.
