Saudi Shiites reject Al-Saud claim

Hundred thirty five Shiite clerics have signed a statement denying a claim by Saudi Interior ministry regarding the involvement of 16 Shiite figures in a spy network associated with Iran.
According to MNA, more than one hundred Shiite clerics who signed the statement form Al-Ahsa region in eastern Saudi Arabia; announced their opposition to the Saudi Interior Ministry claims about having 16 Shiite figures involved in an espionage network associated with Iran.

These 135 Shiite clerics by signing a statement declared that they reject these insulting charges that harm the spiritual and psychological health of the prisoners and their families.

The signatories of the statement delivered a signed copy to Al-Rasd network, announced: “The prisoners are benevolent and philanthropic citizens who have scientific merits and have desirable social status and are also known to have characters, patience and loyalty to the homeland.”

The authors of the statement also condemned the efforts made to create a doubt and question the patriotism and nationalism of the prisoners and called for quick reforms to meet their demands that were required by law for both Shiia and Sunni Saudi citizens.
