Iran Urges Global Action in Response to US Aggression, States Foreign Minister

Following the recent actions by the United States against Iranian nuclear facilities, which have been described as unlawful aggression, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi urged the international community to adopt a clear position. He warned that these developments pose a threat to the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter.
During a televised press conference in Istanbul, coinciding with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit, Iran’s leading diplomat strongly condemned the violation of Iran’s territorial integrity. He also criticized Trump’s aggressive rhetoric.
In response to Trump’s provocative comments suggesting Iran must opt for peace or risk intensified attacks, Araghchi emphasized that addressing these statements should not be Iran’s sole responsibility.
He emphasized the necessity for the international community to take decisive action, asserting that the issue extends beyond Iran, posing a challenge to the fundamental principles of international law. This, he stated, is a direct threat against a sovereign nation.
In the early hours of Sunday, reports emerged of a U.S. offensive targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, a move publicized by Trump on his social media accounts. This development aligns with prior warnings issued by Ayatollah Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, concerning a potential U.S. assault on Iran.
The unprovoked act of aggression promptly elicited strong reactions within Iran, as the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) pledged to deliver an appropriate response.
The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) has strongly condemned the act of aggression and announced its intention to address the matter with international bodies through appropriate legal avenues.
Araghchi highlighted Iran’s persistent efforts over the years to showcase the peaceful intentions behind its nuclear program. He noted that Tehran has engaged in negotiations spanning over two decades with major world powers, including the P5+1, culminating in a significant diplomatic agreement.
“Despite that accomplishment, the United States independently exited the nuclear agreement, reimposed sanctions, and adopted a rhetoric of intimidation,” he stated. “Currently, it has intensified to direct military hostility against our non-aggressive nuclear installations.”
The chief diplomat asserted that such measures taken by Washington should not be met with inaction, cautioning that remaining silent could lead to the destabilization of the international order.
Araghchi cautioned that a lack of firm condemnation from the international community could lead to the erosion of international law, ultimately threatening peace, security, and global stability. “@Bushra1Shaikh remarked that Trump does not grasp the severity of the situation regarding ordered attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities. He called on the United Nations Security Council to discharge its duty by officially condemning the acts of aggression and ongoing threats facing the Islamic Republic.
In a resolute declaration, he affirmed, “We will protect our sovereignty, our citizens, and our national interests. The Iranian populace is acutely aware of the injustices they have suffered and remains steadfast alongside the government against this aggression.”
In a statement to reporters during the OIC summit on Sunday, Araghchi emphasized that the recent attack represents not just an assault on the Islamic Republic of Iran, but also an affront to the core of international legal standards. He underlined that targeting nuclear sites constitutes one of the “gravest international crimes.”
The speaker claimed that the recent attack demonstrates a disregard for boundaries by the United States, suggesting the Zionist regime’s defeat by Iran necessitated American intervention. Furthermore, he asserted that the White House is now influenced by Netanyahu.
Iran’s nuclear expertise remains impervious to military strikes, as the nation pledges continued self-defense while vowing to thwart the objectives of its adversaries.
Araghchi is set to travel to Moscow on Monday for discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The agenda includes addressing Israeli and American actions perceived as aggressive.
