Iran Exports $3bln Worth of Technical, Engineering Services

Iran’s Deputy Energy Minister Mohammad Behzad announced that the country has exported $3bln worth of technical and engineering services to other countries in the current Iranian year (ending March 20).

Behzad said the exports included $1bln worth of electricity and three billion dollars worth of technical and engineering services.

He underlined that 3,255 MW of electricity has been added to the national network, hoping that the figure would reach 5,000 MW in the next four months.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is among the 15 major electricity producers in the world, he said, adding the country is the main exporter of electricity in the region.

Iran’s Energy Ministry announced that the country has exported 7,349 gw/h of electricity to other countries in the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2011 to February 19, 2012) which shows a 27% increase compared with the same period last year.

Iran exported 7,349 gw/h of electricity during the said period this year, up from 5,769gw/h last year.

With the implementation of subsidy reforms law, not only domestic electricity consumption has reduced but also annual growth in electricity demand has been checked, thus paving the way for further export of electricity to the neighboring countries.

Iran has power swap deals with Armenia, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Afghanistan and the autonomous region of Nakhichevan.
