UN chief stresses on Iran’s participation in Geneva2 conference on Syria

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon stressed the importance of Iran’s participation in the international conference on Syria, known as Geneva 2, that is scheduled on January 22.
Ban’s stress came in a phone call he made with Foreign Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif.
“Iran’s attendance in Geneva 2 conference is necessary to Syria’s future,” Zarif was quoted by the Iranian Fars news agency as saying on Wednesday.
He noted that a consistent policy should be followed with regard to the world being a whole, stressing however that Iran’s priority is its neighbors.
Zarif added that his country has a vital vision towards the region as it considers that the security of the region and its countries is Iran’s security.
