Hezbollah Condemns Assassination Bid of Palestinian Cleric in Ain Al-Hilweh

Hezbollah denounced on Thursday the assassination bid of a Palestinian cleric in the refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh as a crime aimed at igniting strife.

In a statement released by Hezbollah’s Media Relations, the party said “criminal hands” extended to target the official in the Association of Islamic Charitable Projects, Sheikh Arsan Sleiman.

“This assassination attempt is a denounced crime as it targeted a scholar and took place in Ain al-Hilweh camp during delicate and strained condition.”

“The perpetrators of these crimes are those who hate diversity of opinion.. and kill the other just for being ideologically different,” the statement said, noting that these crimes serve the interest of the Zionist enemy.

Sheikh Sleiman was shot Wednesday as he was leaving a memorial service for an aid worker who was killed earlier on Monday during a clash in the Palestinian refugee camp of Mieh Mieh near the southern coastal of Sidon.
