“Regional clashes are enemies’ counter strike for Islamic Awakening.”

A senior Iranian cleric referred to the current situation in the Middle East criticizing the enemies for fueling tribal and sectarian clashes to block the path of Islamic Awakening.

Grand Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought participated the press conference prior to the international congress of World Union of Muslim Women saying that the current issues in the Middle East region is a counterstrike by the enemies against Islamic Awakening, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He said, “We are amid the situation when both foreign and domestic enemies try to block the path of Islamic Awakening by fanning the flames of tribal and religious clashes and destroy the great uprising of Muslim nations against the arrogant powers.”

He referred to the possible future results of the Islamic Awakening saying,” Awakening of Muslim nations was going to pave the ways for realization of the objectives of eastern Islamic nations.” And added,” The result for such a movement would be formation of a unified Islamic nation based on the recommendations of holy Qur’an and lifestyle of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).”

Top cleric noted the only elements that could block the way of Islamic Awakening were to create intrigues and rift among Islamic communities.

Ayatollah Araki said under different pretexts, enemies created a gap between the people in each country and added, “They gave the clashes in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Bahrain a tribal and religious hue while their efforts took a color of political disagreements in Egypt, Tunisia, Libya and other countries.”

The religious figure stressed the efforts of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought in line with boosting unity among Islamic communities and mending the gaps between different Muslim nations.

He counted the three phases for the efforts of the World Forum as: defining the theories of proximity, globalization of the context for proximity and also operational phase for proximity.

According to the top religious figure formation of the Committee of Islamic World Peace was one of the plans for the third phase in operating Islamic proximity.

The first meeting of this committee was held in Beirut and the second is due to be held in Turkey soon.

He counted the formation of “Muslim World Women Union” as another effort in operating Islamic proximity which is to hold its first meeting on September 7th, 2013.
