Iranian and U.S. Delegations Convene for Fifth Round of Talks Amid Tehran’s Unyielding Stance on Nuclear Ambitions
Iran and the United States have initiated a fifth round of talks concerning Tehran's nuclear program in Rome, with the crux of the negotiations centering on uranium enrichment.

As in prior sessions, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Trump’s regional envoy, Steve Witkoff, are heading the delegations in the negotiations that commenced on Friday.
The negotiations are being facilitated by Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi.
Accompanying Araghchi to the engagements were a delegation of notable Iranian officials, including the Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi, and Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, along with several other diplomats and experts.
Since April, Tehran and Washington have engaged in four rounds of indirect talks in Rome and Muscat regarding Iran’s nuclear program. These discussions have been marked by frequent changes in the United States’ positions, leading Iranian officials to criticize what they describe as “contradictory” statements from their American counterparts.
Prior to leaving, Araghchi emphasized Iran’s commitment to maintaining its uranium enrichment initiative, asserting that no agreement would be reached if the U.S. persisted with demands that severely curtail Iran’s lawful right to enrichment.
Negotiating a path to an agreement is straightforward, according to Araghchi’s statement on X: achieving zero nuclear weapons means a deal is attainable, while zero enrichment signifies no deal.
A spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that Tehran’s objectives and targets remain steadfast and unchanged.
Baghaei stated that Iran’s nuclear initiative stems from “long-term perseverance, resistance, and resilience” by a nation that takes great pride in its hard-earned accomplishments.
The Iranian populace is now anticipating their diplomats to resolutely uphold and defend the nation’s rights and interests.
