A senior Iranian military commander dismissed some western media reports and speculations that illegitimate israel has played a role in the November 12 explosion at a military base near Tehran, stressing that Iran would have given the zionist regime a crushing response otherwise.
The explosion in a garrison of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) killed 17 of its members last Saturday, some 40km to the West of Tehran.
General Hassan Moqaddam, chief of IRGC’s Self-Sufficiency Jihad Organization which is tasked with promoting the country’s independence in weapons and equipment production, was martyred in the blast.
While some western media reported that Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, was linked to the November 12 blast in Iran, Deputy Head of the General Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces Major General Gholam Ali Rashid told FNA on Sunday that “they have in no way the ability to carry out such a move”.
“Mossad, CIA or any other intelligence service does not have the capability to carry out such move,” Rashid reiterated, adding that martyred General Moqaddam was a very careful man with regard to physical and information security.
“They lack such a capability. This is psychological warfare. These remarks aim to exert pressure on the Europeans and other countries which Americans think do not want not accompany the US,” Rashid stated.
“Of course, we are always ready and (if we are attacked) we will pound all Israeli centers thanks to the missile power developed by martyr Hassan Tehrani Moqaddam,” he concluded.
Earlier, Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces Major General Hassan Firouzabadi also strongly denied certain western media reports about Israel’s possible involvement in the explosion at the IRGC base.
“The recent incident and blast is not linked to Israel or America,” he underscored.
