Measures against Iran ineffective

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad insists that measures taken by dominant powers to exert pressure on Iranians have no affect on the “nation’s will and progress.”

In a Monday meeting with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves, President Ahmadinejad said that “bullying powers are getting so angry and worried” that their efforts can no longer have much impact on the progress of the Iranian nation.

The Iranian president expressed Tehran’s desire to expand relations with independent and justice-seeking states.

“Strengthening cooperation between independent states outside the territory of dominant powers can accelerate the progress of nations,” Ahmadinejad said.

He added that the only way for nations to maintain their dignity and independence is resisting against such greedy powers.

Gonsalves, for his part, said his country is ready to prepare the grounds for Iran’s cooperation with the Caribbean region, adding that he considers such relations beneficial for both regions and states.

President Ahmadinejad travelled to New York to attend the 65th session of the United Nations General Assembly and is scheduled to address the forum on Tuesday.

The annual summit is to focus on the Millennium Development Goals from September 20 to 22.
