Iranian FM: Israel’s National Policy Based on Child-Killing

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif condemned Israel for killing innocent Palestinian civilians in Gaza, and said massacre of the children and the elderly is the Zionist regime’s national policy.
“Today the Muslim world is facing this bitter reality that anti-Islamic movements are sowing the seeds of fratricide and discord among the Muslim nations under the name of Islam from within this great and powerful body and are committing barbaric crimes in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nigeria and other Islamic countries,” Zarif said, addressing a ceremony in Tehran on Sunday.

“Concurrent with these events the Zionist regime is pursuing brutal savageries in Gaza by killing children and old men as a national policy and the Muslims are obliged to resort to the international organizations against such crimes which have no record but silence on the regime’s crimes,” he added.

Zarif underlined that in such conditions, paying attention to the Islamic world and Muslims’ capabilities is necessary.

Israeli warplanes have been pounding numerous sites in the Gaza Strip since July 8, demolishing houses and burying families under the rubble. Israeli forces also began a ground offensive against the impoverished Palestinian land on July 17.

The Palestinian death toll in Israel’s onslaught on Gaza has now reached nearly 1,730, with over 9,100 people injured. Most of the casualties have been civilians, including a large number of women and children.

Meantime, over 400,000 of Gazans, nearly one out of four, have been displaced as a result of the recent aggressions made by Israeli forces against the besieged enclave.
