Iranian Military Sends Message with Fattah Missile Launch, Targets Ally of Israel

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) declared the deployment of the advanced "Fattah" hypersonic missiles during the eleventh phase of Operation True Promise III, which took place early Wednesday morning.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has characterized the recent stage of their operation as a “turning point,” asserting that the introduction of first-generation Fattah missiles signifies “the beginning of the end” for Israel’s “mythical” missile defense capabilities.

The commanders and fighters of the IRGC aerospace force have been lauded for the success of a mission described as “glorious and pride-inducing.”

The Fattah missiles, known for their potency and agility, targeted specific sites, sending a strong signal of Iran’s capabilities to Tel Aviv’s ally. The attack intends to challenge perceived misconceptions and assert Iran’s position in the region.

The declaration underscored that the missile assault demonstrated Iran’s full control over the airspace of the occupied territories, leaving Israeli settlers entirely vulnerable to the precision strikes of the Islamic Republic.

Fattah, translated as “the opener,” is a state-of-the-art precision-guided missile featuring a two-stage solid-fuel design. With an impressive range of 1,400 kilometers, it boasts a terminal velocity between Mach 13 and 15. This advanced missile system was introduced to the public in June 2023.

According to military experts, the missile’s exceptional speed, coupled with movable nozzles that enable multidirectional maneuverability both inside and outside Earth’s atmosphere, renders it impervious to interception by any of the current anti-missile systems.

At the unveiling ceremony in 2023, Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the former commander of the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, characterized the missile as a “giant leap.”

Prior to Iran’s advancements, just three nations—Russia, China, and India—had achieved expertise in producing operational hypersonic missiles. These countries have developed models that vary in terms of launch platforms, range, payload, and the specifics of hypersonic technology.

The eleventh phase of the operation marked the most intense period yet, as Iranian missiles successfully penetrated several layers of Israeli air defense systems.

Amid significant media restrictions implemented by the Israeli government, videos have emerged on social media platforms depicting a dramatic scene as the skies above Tel Aviv and Haifa were illuminated by a volley of advanced Iranian missiles penetrating Israel’s multi-layered missile defense systems.
