Iranian Minister Stresses Importance of Expanding Cultural Ties among Muslims

Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyed Mohammad Hosseini underlined the importance of the further development of cultural relations among Muslim states for resolving problems in the Islamic world.

Hosseini made the remarks in his meetings with the Iraqi officials and Ulema in Iraq.

During his stay, he held meetings with his Iraqi counterpart Sadun Farhan al-Dulaymi and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ali Muhammad al-Adib as well as Head of the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council Ammar al-Hakim.

He also conferred with a number of Iraqi Ulema on the issues of religion, culture and art.

Also, Iranian and Iraqi ministers of culture inked an agreement on expansion of mutual cooperation in cultural and cinematic fields.

Iran and Iraq have enjoyed growing ties ever since the overthrow of the former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, during the 2003 US invasion of the Muslim country.

Both sides are working on a series of plans to take wide strides in the expansion of their ties, in economic fields in particular.
