Iranian Official: Crisis in Syria Should be Solved through Dialogue, not terrorism

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Oceania Affairs, Abbas Araghchi, reiterated his country’s stance on solving the crisis in Syria through dialogue.

In a statement to Iranian news agency (IRNA) after meeting his Turkish counterpart in Ankara, Araghchi said “There is no military solution to the crisis in Syria and it should be solved through dialogue between the government and the opposition, not terrorists.”

He denied any participation of Iranian or Hezbollah forces in the fighting in Syria, adding that Hezbollah officials said that they cooperate with the Lebanese army to prevent the crisis in Syria from expanding into Lebanon.

Araghchi pointed out that there are some people who didn’t like the victories achieved by Syrian Arab Army, so they are spreading rumors regarding participation of Iranian and Hezbollah forces to play down the importance of these achievements, especially in al-Qseir.
