Iranian President: Iran’s People and Leadership will always Support Syria

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran said that Iran’s people and Leadership will always support Syria and its stances to build the renewed Syria.

President Ahmadinejad was speaking during a meeting with the Grand Mufti of Syria Ahmad Badr Eddin Hassoun on the sideline of the 25th Islamic Unity International Conference held in Tehran.

For his part, Mufti Hassoun said that Syria overcame the crisis and that it is heading to the renewed Syria under the leadership of its President and people rallying around him.

He added that Syria will always be an example for the Arab and Islamic Nation in defending Palestine and the rights of the Arab people.

Participating in the opening session of the25th Islamic Unity International Conference, Mufti Hassoun criticized the stances of some Arab countries that withdrew their ambassadors from Syria which came in accordance with the behavior of Syria’s enemies.

He added that this Arab move goes along with the US stance instead of standing by the Syrians, warning against those who target Syria, stressing that the steadfastness of Syria, Iran and Lebanon helped achieve victory to the Islamic Nation.

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said that Syria today is facing a backed Arab and foreign attack because Syria supported the Resistance and rejected bilateral negotiations, underlining Syria’s and Iran’s rejection of the new Middle East project that justifies the presence of Israel.

The 25th Islamic Unity International Conference kicked off in Tehran with the participation of the Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and the Syrian Ambassador in Tahran Dr. Hamed Hassan in addition to 271 intellectuals, scholars and figures from 57 Islamic countries.
