Iranian, Turkish Diplomats Discuss Mutual Cooperation

Iranian Ambassador to Turkey Alireza Bigdeli and Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc in a meeting in Ankara discussed bilateral ties.

During the meeting in the Turkish capital on Thursday, the Iranian and Turkish diplomats voiced satisfaction with the current status of mutual cooperation between the two countries.

Bigdeli stressed Iran’s enthusiasm for enhancing relations with Turkey in different fields, and said, “Expansion of relations between Iran and Turkey would serve to the interests of the two countries.

The Turkish deputy prime minister, for his part, hailed the successful holding of Iran’s 11th presidential election on June 14, saying, “The Turkish government will further develop relations with Iran during the tenure of Iranian President-elect Hassan Rouhani.”

Iran and Turkey have broadened their relations in various fields of economy, security, trade, education, energy and culture in recent years.

The two sides have exchanged several politico-economic delegations during the last few months.

Turkey imports more than 90 percent of its oil and gas.

Iran and Turkey are determined to boost their trade exchanges to $35 billion in the near future.
