Iranian VP Urges Further Development of Ties with Comoros

Iranian First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi in a meeting with his Comorian counterpart Fouad Mohadji underlined the necessity for the further expansion of the relations between the two countries.

“Iran would stand beside all oppressed nations of the world and in particular, the African nations; Iran is keen to develop relations with Comoros; arrogant colonial powers are responsible for plundering of African nations and their problems; oppressed nations should start fighting for their rights in the international community,” Rahimi said on Wednesday.

The vice-president of Comoros for his part thanked Iran’s supports, adding that Comoros welcomes the presence of Iranian investors and expertise in this region.

“There are good potentials for expansion of relations between Iran and Comoros in all fields including the fields of economy, trade exchange and culture.”

Iranian and Comorian Presidents had earlier underlined the need for the further expansion and consolidation of the two countries’ relations in various sectors.

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Comorian counterpart Ikililou Dhoinine made the remarks in a meeting on the sidelines of the 66th UN General Assembly session in New York in 2011.

At the meeting, Ahmadinejad viewed the two sides’ relations as strong and brotherly, and added, “There is not impediment to the further expansion of relations between the two states.”

“All the possible capacities must be utilized to further develop the relations between the two countries to the maximum level,” he added.
