Iran’s Dehghan: World caught up in israeli, Saudi regimes’ aggressive policies

Iran’s Defense Min. Dehghan said the world today is caught up in terrorist threats of ISIL, al-Nusra and other Takfiri-Wahhabi extremist groups, as well as the aggressive policies of US, Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Iranian Minister of Defense Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan made the remark in a meeting with his Azeri counterpart Colonel General Zakir Hasanov in Tehran on Sunday, adding that the people of Palestine, Syria, Iraq and Yemen are the most affected by these aggressive policies.

“The West Asia is faced with threats, instability and insecurity,” Dehghan said. “It is only natural that the crisis would spread to other countries if their respective leaders do not adopt a responsible policy toward such instances of insecurity.”

Dehghan went on to add, “given the current situation, we believe that the region cannot withstand another crisis and insecurity. Thus, we are hoping that the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia will commit themselves to arriving at a peaceful solution to Karabakh conflict and do not allow further escalation of crisis by letting foreign and irrelevant countries to intervene.”

The Azeri Minister of Defense, for his part, called for expansion of defense-military cooperation with Iran, adding that the recent negotiations between the presidents of the two countries have provided proper conditions for closer bilateral cooperation in many fields.

He further stressed that the Republic of Azerbaijan is firmly committed to ensure security at the borders of two countries and will not allow any elements to disrupt the current peace and security at Iran-Azerbaijan borders.
