Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has set out on a three-nation tour of the Persian Gulf region for talks on bilateral and regional issues.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian left Tehran on Tuesday for the United Arab Emirates on the first leg of his regional tour, which will also take him to Kuwait and Oman.

The Iranian diplomat is to discuss bilateral ties as well as regional developments, especially the crisis in Syria, during his trip.

Iran attaches importance to strengthening ties with Mideast countries in order to maintain security in the region.

Earlier in February 2013, Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi stressed the significance of close cooperation among the countries in the Persian Gulf in order to maintain regional security and stability.
