According to Press TV, a member of the Majlis Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy Mohammad Saleh Jokar said on Wednesday: “The Syrian government has taken the path of dialogue and negotiations since the outset of the tensions in the country and always supports plans based on reconciliation and negotiation.”
He added: “Foreign plans to resolve the Syrian crisis are not acceptable to the Syrian people.”
The Iranian legislator noted that foreigners dispatched armed opposition groups to Syria to provoke unrest in the Arab country.
He pointed out that the Syrian public will never cooperate with the plans imposed from outside the country because it well knows that Western powers only think of their own national interests.
The Iranian lawmaker’s remarks came after Syrian Prime Minister Wael Nader al-Halqi said on December 31 that Damascus would respond to any initiative meant to resolve the turmoil in Syria through dialogue.
Halqi said: “The government is working to support the national reconciliation project and will respond to any regional or international initiative that would solve the current crisis through dialogue and peaceful means and prevent foreign intervention in Syria’s internal affairs.”
