Iran’s FM Schedules Diplomatic Tour to Pakistan and India for Routine Consultations, Reports Baghaei

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to embark on visits to Pakistan and India this week, as part of Tehran's continuing diplomatic discussions with nations in the region, according to a statement from the Foreign Ministry spokesperson.

He stated that the discussions will concentrate on strengthening bilateral relations and tackling recent developments in both regional and international arenas.

Baghaei announced that the senior diplomat is scheduled to undertake an official visit to India later in the week.

The forthcoming visits are set to occur against a backdrop of escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations following the April 22 terrorist attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals.

India has attributed responsibility for the attack to Pakistan, although Pakistan has denied these allegations.

In a telephone discussion on April 26 with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian strongly condemned the attack and emphasized the importance of a collaborative effort to combat terrorism.

In a distinct phone conversation with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held on the same day, Pezeshkian conveyed significant concern regarding the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following the recent attack.

The Iranian Foreign Minister engaged in a telephone discussion with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, on April 26. During the conversation, he expressed Tehran’s willingness to assist in reducing tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad.
