Iran’s Religious Minorities Condemn Assassination Threats Targeting Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei
In a demonstration of national solidarity, key figures from Iran’s religious minority groups and faith communities have vehemently denounced the recent threats directed at Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
Leaders from Iran’s Christian, Jewish, Zoroastrian, and Mandaean communities have issued a statement condemning threats made by Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The statement, released on Saturday, criticizes these threats as an assault not only on a political figure but also on the shared values and spiritual dignity of believers across the globe.
“Religious leaders and scholars serve as the embodiment of the identity and beliefs of followers of divine faiths. Any attack on them is seen as an assault on the convictions and sentiments of hundreds of millions of individuals,” the statement asserts.
The clerics cautioned that these threats breach the United Nations Charter and core principles of international law, especially those safeguarding senior officials of sovereign UN member nations.
Faith leaders highlighted that if these threats are considered imminent, they provide a valid basis for the right to preemptive self-defense as outlined by international legal standards.
The signatories emphasized the global religious implications of the issue, warning that these threats have the potential to trigger widespread and uncontrollable reactions both within the region and internationally.
A statement indicated that global religious and interfaith leaders, along with the United Nations Security Council and other international institutions and legal entities, are anticipated to issue a decisive, public, and effective response.
Assassination threats directed at the Leader of the Islamic Revolution emerged following an unprovoked assault by the Israeli regime against Iran. This attack resulted in the assassination of several high-ranking military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians.
In reaction, Iran initiated Operation True Promise III, directing its efforts at key Israeli military and intelligence targets throughout the occupied territories.
