US stance on Syria based on lies

The US government, backed by British and French puppet governments, has announced that it is ready to launch a criminal attack on Syria in coming days.
According to US media, the military operation will consist of cruise missile attacks against Syrian bases and facilities.
One main reason for the rush to this war is to prevent the UN inspectors from doing a professional and impartial work. There is growing evidence that the chemical attack that took place in the regions of Eastern and Western Guta, in Damascus countryside, was actually a provocation and a false flag attack by foreign-backed militants whose main goal was to give the US and other Western powers a pretext to launch an attack aimed at degrading the Syrian army’s capacities to fight against the terrorist groups.
The Syrian government, which has challenged the US administration to show the proofs of its claims, agreed for the UN inspectors to visit the places where the alleged chemical attack would have taken place. However, the US Administration rushed to state that it was “too late” for UN inspections and parroted the allegations of al-Qaeda-linked groups, which claimed that the Syrian army had attacked these areas with chemical weapons.
Washington called on the UN to withdraw the inspectors from Syria, but UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, rejected the demand. Actually, this fact shows that US and other Western officials are desperate to hide the truth about the Syrian chemical weapons use and are trying to anticipate any serious and impartial investigation.
In another attempt to prevent UN inspectors from entering the sites, some snipers fired upon the inspectors from rebel held areas and it forced inspectors to put off their investigation for one day. Russia, for its part, has called on the inspectors to do their work in “a professional and impartial way”.
False videos
Actually, materials involving forces of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the use of chemical weapons were prepared before the alleged incident on August 21. The Russian Foreign Ministry has revealed this fact but it has been silenced by mainstream Western media, which has echoed the version of the Syrian opposition.
Moscow has followed closely the events surrounding the alleged attack with chemical weapons near Damascus, said the spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexander Lukashevich, in a statement. “We are getting more evidence that this criminal act was clearly provocative in nature,” he said. “In particular, there are reports circulating on the internet showing that the videos of the alleged incident were placed several hours before it had taken place. Thus, it was a pre-planned action.”
The videos, specifically three, which showed alleged victims of chemical attacks near Damascus were uploaded to YouTube on August 20, one day before the attack allegedly took place, through the account “Majles Rif”. Even taking into account the seven-hour time difference between Syria and the US, where the server of Youtube is located, the upload of such videos was made several hours before the attacks. This points to a clear provocation.
The videos themselves suggest a manipulation. The children shown on them seem to be drugged. They are not accompanied by their parents, who do not appear neither dead nor alive at the place. The boys appear naked while the girls are fully clothed. There is no hospital structure, even underground, apart from folding screens and serum bags.
Interestingly, no animal is seen dead by the gas, not even a bird, even though the attack would have caused, according to the opposition, hundreds of dead.
It should be noted that during the day of August 21, the Syrian Arab Army shelled the Free Syrian Army positions, which are located south of Guta (an agricultural belt surrounding the capital). This combat zone had been abandoned by civilians for several months. It seems that militant groups suffered big losses as a result of the fighting and they were in a desperate situation.
Not strangely, allegations of chemical attacks by Syrian Army take place whenever the rebels are in a difficult position and desperately look for a foreign intervention. This time, according to the Syrian opposition, the attacks would have taken place just a few hours after UN inspectors arrived in Damascus to investigate the use by Syrian militants of chemical weapons in the town of Khan al-Assal, near Aleppo, and just a few kilometers away from the hotel where the inspectors were staying. Could anyone imagine a worse time and place for the Syrian government to order a chemical attack?
Russia has submitted to the members of UN Security Council satellite photos showing that locally manufactured missiles with chemical warheads were launched against the region of East and West Guta from Duma, a stronghold of Syrian armed groups -and more specifically of the Liwa-Islam gang- in Damascus province, and not from Syrian military positions, as stated by many Arab and Western media.
In this regard, the site Truth Syria has indicated that the targets of these attacks were government soldiers who had gathered in the Abbasids Square, East of Damascus, and its periphery. The Lebanese newspaper as-Safir revealed that some militant insurgents, including snipers, were also in the area, but they quickly left it before the attack.
It was then when the chemical attack was launched, ie. at about 1:30 hours local time and not at 3:00 hours, as stated by the General Committee of the Syrian Revolution.
However, the missiles missed the target. Instead of falling into the Abbasids Square, the first one fell in Jobar, near the Old City, and the second in a region between Zmelka and Arbin.
Based on such evidence, Moscow has stated that the chemical attacks were perpetrated by the armed opposition groups and not by the Syrian army.
A violation of international law
The Syria attack is an open violation of the international rules which have been replaced with the law of the jungle. The US and Britain -and lately France- have been working to erode the post-war legal system, which maintained peace in the world since the end of the Second World War. For five decades, this system worked more or less because of the Soviet military power, which kept Western imperialist powers at bay.
After the end of the Soviet Union, the West stopped considering Russia as a major power. China was then also too weak to represent a challenge for US unilateralism. The climax of the new order was the Iraq war, which was launched with no UN avail and justified by false allegations about non-existent weapons of mass destruction.
However, in the last decade the situation has changed in the world. Russia and China developed their economies and military power. Russia is now the first economy in Europe and China is the second one in the world. Their armies have been expanded and modernized. Meanwhile, the US economy has been suffering a decline since the 2008 crisis. The huge costs of military interventions in Afghanistan and Iraq, where the US and Britain were incapable of reaching their political and military goals, have weakened US economy and power. At the same time, the new emerging countries -India, Brazil and South Africa- and blocs -as Latin America’s ALBA or CELAC- have also paved the way to a new and multilateral world.
In the last two years, Russia and China have tried to prevent Western powers from repeating their illegal wars against Iraq and Libya -which resulted in a chaos and the proliferation of al-Qaeda-linked militias- in Syria. Their position, along with Iran’s, has prevented the anti-Syrian coalition -made up by the US, Britain, France, Turkey, Israel and Persian Gulf monarchies- from reaching their goal to install a puppet government in Syria. For two years, the Syrian army has been fighting against Syrian and international terrorists and has reached important military successes. This is why the US and the US-backed Syrian militants have prepared the chemical provocation.
While its troops have been gaining ground in the battlefield, the Syrian government is still open to a political solution, In contrast to the repeated negatives of the Syrian opposition to take part in the proposed Geneve-2 conference on Syria, Damascus has designated a negotiating team and showed its willingness to participate in the event. However, the Syrian opposition and its Western and Gulf sponsors do not want to political agreement and only considered taking part in the conference if they were offered the power and a total surrender by the Syrian government.
Although the US government is theoretically co-sponsor of this conference, its military attack against Syria will probably preempt any hope of peace talks because the Syrian opposition has no incentive to take part in them as the US military has come to their aid. Significantly, the chemical attack took place one week before a crucial meeting between Russian and US negotiators, in which important details of the Geneva-2 conference were going to be discussed.
Propaganda campaign
The Syrian attack has been preceded by a propaganda campaign with a script repeated ad nauseam: “the humanitarian intervention”. This campaign is spearheaded through servile media and seeks to stir up emotions among poorly informed people in order to sell them an illegal and unjustifiable war. The campaign is fuelled by all kind of false claims coming from pro-US opposition circles, as it happened previously in Libya and Iraq.
However, the US Administration has failed to gain popular support for its new aggression. According to a recent Reuters poll, 60 percent of US people reject the attack on Syria and only 9 percent support it. Actually, American people, who suffer growing economic troubles and unemployment, are tired of costly wars and of being lied and manipulated. But the US “has no functioning democracy”, as former president Jimmy Carter recently said. The US has been transformed into a police state where citizens can be spied with impunity and public opinion does not count.
During the Nuremberg trials, Nazi leaders were sentenced to death for the same offenses being committed by the US, British and French leaders today, that is “the planning, preparation, initiation, or waging of wars of aggression, or a war in violation of international treaties, agreements or assurances, or participation in a common plan or conspiracy for the accomplishment of any of the foregoing”. People who love peace in the world should act to prevent these people from keeping pushing the humanity to the brink of a world catastrophe.
