Iraq: Sheikh Khazaali Casts Doubts on Claims about Assassination Attempt against PM Kadhimi

Sheikh Qais al-Khazali, leader of Iraq’s Asaib Ahl al-Haq, issued on Sunday a statement to comment on the alleged assassination attempt against the prime minister, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, underling the importance of investigating claimed attack to identify its real causes and circumstances.

Sheikh Khazaali said that he condemns that attack if it’s true, calling for arresting the culprits.

Sheikh Khazaali described the alleged assassination bid as an attempt to reshuffle cards after the bloody assault on the Iraqi protesters on Friday, adding that intelligence agencies may have carried out the attack in order to hold the resistance factions accountable.

Iraq’s military claimed Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi survived an assassination attempt after a drone laden with explosives targeted his residence in the capital, Baghdad.
