Iraqi army liberates key village from ISIL in Anbar

The Iraqi army, backed by volunteer forces, has managed to liberate the village of Jarah from the ISIL in the western province of Anbar, as it continues its battle against the Takfiri terrorists.

Following an intense battle with the militants, Iraqi forces recaptured the Jarah village northeast of Fallujah in Anbar Province on Thursday.

Iraqi military sources said on Friday that government troops also managed to kill more than two dozen ISIL terrorists and destroy six of their vehicles east of the city of Ramadi.

The government forces recently launched a massive operation to recapture the strategic city of Ramadi, the capital of Anbar, from the terrorist group.

Iraqi forces have made significant gains against ISIL, which controls Ramadi and other areas in western and northern Iraq. Ramadi fell into the hands of the militants in May when Iraqi forces were concentrating on recapturing cities and districts north of the country.

Iraqi sources have said troops are very close to Fallujjah, another strategic town in Anbar.

Latest local media reports indicate that the Iraqi army, backed by Shia and Sunni volunteers, has been pushing its way toward areas in Anbar and Salahuddin provinces which are still under the control of the militants.

Various advanced weapons, tanks and reinforcements have been sent to the frontlines to boost the ongoing liberation operations.

Violence has plagued the northern and western parts of Iraq ever since ISIL launched its deadly terror campaign in June 2014, and took control of portions of Iraqi territory.

Iraqi troops have gained more ground in their fight against the ISIL Takfiri terrorists in recent months. Units of army soldiers coupled with volunteer fighters are seeking to win back militant-held regions in joint operations.

The Takfiri group has been committing heinous crimes against all ethnic and religious groups in Iraq, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds and Christians.
