Iraqi FM Reiterates Stance on Political Solution in Syria

20130324-161336_h474210Iraqi Foreign Minister reiterated his country’s stance in support of solving the crisis in Syria politically and through national dialogue without any foreign interference.

“Iraq’s position on the crisis in Syria is clear as we from the very start supported the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people as well as their right to draw their future by themselves,” said Zebari in a meeting of the Arab League (AL) Foreign Ministers in Doha on Sunday.

He reiterated that Iraq has since the beginning of the crisis held firm to its stance of “condemning all acts of violence, calling for peaceful political solution, supporting national dialogue and rejecting all forms of foreign interferences in preservation of Syria’s unity and the safety of its people.”

Zebari also highlighted that his country has cautioned against the dangerous repercussions if a prolonged crisis in Syria on the security and safety of the region’s countries.

The Iraqi Foreign Minister stressed Iraq’s repeated reservation on the issue of representing the ‘Doha Coalition’ in the AL , a reservation Zebari said is based on adherence to the League’s Charter.

He affirmed that Iraq condemns all forms of terrorism whatever its sources, motives and justifications are, calling for work to “uproot terrorism and drain its ideological and financial sources,” and to stand against all ‘takfiri fatwas.”

With the Gulf oil protectorates having over taken the role of the AL, Qatar Prime Minister, Hamad bin Jassim, continued its coup against the AL Charter paving the way for the Doha-generated so-called ‘National Coalition’ to seize Syria’s seat at the Arab League.

Bin Jassim welcomed his tools imported to Doha to provide them with a work plan for the next stage after they established a new media structure to undertake, along with the ‘Doha Coalition’, the leadership of the political work of Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group in the international arena.

Following in the footsteps of bin Jassim who pleaded for Western intervention in Syria, the AL Secretary General Nabil al-Arabi repeated the call upon the Security Council to approve intervention in Syria ignoring the Geneva Statement and its content which provides for solving the crisis based on dialogue and preservation of Syria’s sovereignty.

Iraqi Government Strongly Condemns Assassination of al-Bouti

Meanwhile, the Iraqi government condemned in the strongest terms the ugly terrorist operation which claimed the life of a large number of innocent prayers in al-Iman Mosque in al-Mazra’a neighborhood in Damascus, on top being scholar Mohammad Said Ramadan al-Bouti.

“While condemning this crime, we stress once again that adopting the approach of terrorism and violence to achieve political goals by whatever party is a dangerous act that should be condemned by all,” said a statement issued by the Media Office of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki.

The Iraqi government called upon all the parties in Syria “to incline toward peace and work to find a peaceful exit to save Syria and the brotherly Syrian people from the current tragedies.”
