Demonstrators, with viewpoints from across Iraq’s religious and political spectrum, held the rally on Sunday at the Marble Arch located in London’s Westminster area.

The protesters called for unity in Iraq to bring an end to ongoing attacks by the ISIL militants.

“We are united as one country no matter where you are from the country, whether south, north or anywhere, but we want to show everyone, [to the] the whole world, America, Israel, Qatar, Saudi [Arabia] – all these countries that are trying to ruin our country – that we are one nation, one blood, one heart, Sunni, Shia, Christian, we are one country,” said one protester.

The demonstrators also urged British state broadcaster, the BBC, to make a platform for the Iraqi people, with one protester saying, the broadcaster is “not showing how people are being murdered, how they are being occupied by an unelected group of militants.”

Iraq is currently witnessing a wave of violence unprecedented in recent years.

Over the past days, Iraqi armed forces have been engaged in fierce clashes with the ISIL terrorists, who have threatened to take their acts of violence to other Iraqi cities, including the capital, Baghdad.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has repeatedly blamed Saudi Arabia and Qatar for the security crisis and growing terrorism in his country, and denounced the Al Saud regime as a major supporter of global terrorism.
