Iraq’s unity dashed enemy plots

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani says Iraq has disappointed its enemies, including the occupiers of the country, through “vigilance and solidarity.”

Larijani made the remark in a Tuesday meeting with Iraqi lawmaker Ibrahim al-Jaafari in the Iranian capital, Tehran, ISNA reported.

During the meeting, the two officials discussed the latest developments in Iraq and ways to consolidate bilateral ties.

Larijani lauded the formation of a national unity government in Iraq and said a brighter, promising future is on the horizon for the Iraqi nation.

The Iranian parliament speaker pointed out that Iran would spare no effort to help Iraq rebuild the country and said the Islamic Republic of Iran’s industrial, economic and scientific capabilities will serve as a supporting factor in the development and progress of its neighbor.

The Iranian official also called for expansion of mutual economic ties in various sectors, including industry, oil, gas, energy and banking.

Jaafari, for his part, praised Iran’s support for his country and said nothing could damage the brotherly relations between the two nations.
