Iraqi armed forces supported by volunteers have pushed ISIL Takfiri terrorists from areas in the provinces of Anbar, in the west of the country, and Salahuddin, north of the capital, Baghdad.

The Iraqi army launched Operation Samarra on Friday in an attempt to free regions south of the city of Tikrit in Salahuddin Province.

They freed the provincial Al Bu Salebi village as well as Yathrib, al-Isehaqi and Balad districts.

The army also liberated the Albu Assaf village located near the town of Hit in Anbar Province.

Iraqi troops disarmed at least 16 cars packed with explosives and destroyed several armored vehicles belonging to ISIL terrorists.

During the operation, three Iraqi troops were killed and around 20 more injured.

Meanwhile in Dhuluiya in Salahuddin Province, Iraqi police backed by tribes are pressing ahead with their offensive against the Takfiri terrorists.

The ISIL attacked Iraq in June and took control of the country’s second largest city, Mosul, before sweeping through parts of the country’s Sunni Arab heartland.

The Takfiri militants have been carrying out horrific acts of violence, including public decapitations and crucifixions, against all Iraqi communities such as Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, and Christians.
