IRGC Commander Rashid Honored in Hometown Farewell Ceremony
Gholamali Rashid, who was reportedly assassinated by Israel amidst its 12-day military offensive against Iran, was interred in the southwestern city of Dezful.
Residents of Dezful, a city in southwest Iran, have held a funeral for Lieutenant General Gholamali Rashid, a high-ranking commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), who was reportedly assassinated by Israel.
On Monday, a significant gathering assembled for the burial ceremony of the slain commander of Khatam al-Anbia Headquarters at Sabz-e-Qaba, a sacred site that is home to one of the brothers of the eighth Shia imam, Imam Reza (PBUH).
Ali Larijani and Mohammad Mokhber, advisors to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, were present at a ceremony held in Dezful, situated in Khuzestan Province.
During a recent gathering, mourners expressed strong anti-American and anti-Israeli sentiments through chants. They passionately reiterated their resolve not to succumb to humiliation and voiced unwavering support for the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
In a series of targeted operations attributed to Israel, top Iranian military officials, including Gholamali Rashid, and several prominent nuclear scientists, were assassinated following the initiation of hostilities on June 13. The aggressive campaign reportedly resulted in the deaths of 600 individuals over a span of 12 days.
A large funeral procession took place on Saturday in Tehran, honoring 60 victims of recent attacks in the capital, including senior military leaders.
Just a day after the events, several cities held ceremonies to lay some of those commanders to rest.
Lieutenant General Hossein Salami, the former chief commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (I.R.G.C.), has been interred at the Shah Abdol-Azim shrine in Rey, within Tehran Province.
Major General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force, along with Major General Mahmoud Bagheri, the commander of the Aerospace Missile Force, were laid to rest in Behesht-e Zahra, the renowned cemetery located in the capital city of Tehran.
The burial ceremony for Lieutenant General Ali Shadmani, who succeeded Rashid as the commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters, took place in his native Hamedan.
Israel initiated its offensive three days prior to scheduled discussions between Iran and the United States concerning Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
On June 22, Washington launched an offensive by targeting three nuclear facilities in Iran, including Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz, through aerial strikes.
The Iranian Armed Forces delivered a robust response to what was described as U.S.-Israeli aggression, executing strategic strikes on critical sectors within the Israeli-occupied territories and causing significant damage. Hostilities ceased after a truce was declared on June 24.
