Oppressed American people broke out in Berkeley

Angry Americans took to streets in Berkeley, Missouri on Wednesday after police shot and killed another black teenager Tuesday night.

18-year-old Antonio Martin was shot dead by a police officer near a gas station in Berkeley. Police say the officer had no choice but to shoot Martin because Martin pointed a gun at officers.

Several hundreds of demonstrators gathered near the gas station on Wednesday and clashes erupted as police started to use force to disperse the protestors.

The ongoing protests in Berkeley broke out late Tuesday with police arresting at least four people so far.

Officers responded in riot gear with some of them using pepper spray against protestors, said St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar.

Orlando Brown, who was among protestors, said “I understand police officers have a job and have an obligation to go home to their families at the end of the night,” adding “but do you have to treat every situation with lethal force?”

On Wednesday, Berkeley Mayor Theodore Hoskins defended the shooting saying it was not racially motivated.

The shooting incident was the latest in the US police brutality cases against the black community.

Earlier in August, the death of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown by a white officer in Ferguson sparked nationwide protests.
