On Tuesday morning, the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched a counter-offensive at the Red Villas of Abu Bakr, attacking the predominately Kurdish “People’s Protection Units” (YPG) at the western sector of this village in Al-Hasakah’s eastern countryside before their assault was repelled by the latter.

Following this failed infiltration attempt into the Red Villas, the Syrian Arab Army’s 104th Airborne Brigade of the Syrian Republican Guard – in coordination with the Shaytat Tribesmen – carried out a powerful attack of their own at the Martyrs Cemetery and its surrounding.

The Syrian Armed Forces were able to take full control of the Al-Hasakah Vegetable Market and the western perimeter of the Martyrs Cemetery after fierce clashes with the terrorist group around 1:30 P.M. (Damascus Time) on Tuesday.

To add to ISIS’ plight in Al-Hasakah City, the Syrian Arab Army’s 123rd Brigade of the 3rd Armored Division – in coordination with the Al-Ba’ath Battalion, the National Defense Forces (NDF) and the Gozarto Protection Forces (Assyrian militia) – broke-through the terrorist group’s frontline defenses near the northern entrance of the Youth Housing building in the Al-Zuhour Quarter, where they later staked their positions .

Northwest of the Al-Zuhour Quarter, the YPG crossed the Khabour River and entered the west district of the Al-Nishwa Quarter, where they killed 18 enemy combatants, while also capturing a number of building blocks en route to expanding their control inside the provincial capital.

South of the YPG-held territory, the Syrian Armed Forces improved their positions at the Al-Shari’ah District of Al-Nishwa, capturing almost half of this area after clashes with the terrorist group in the morning.
