Islamic Jihad: Abbas’s remarks threaten the national unity

The Islamic Jihad Movement has warned that the remarks made on Monday by Palestinian Authority (PA) president Mahmoud Abbas on Gaza pose a threat to the unity of the Palestinian people and provide more support for the Israeli blockade on the improvised enclave.

In a press release on Monday, Islamic Jihad expressed its outright rejection of any punitive measures to be taken by the PA leadership in Ramallah against the Gaza population.

“Everyone should realize that the unity of the Palestinian people in the face of the Zionist enemy is the national position that must steer all our efforts at this stage,” the Movement underlined.

It stressed the need for rallying around the Palestinian resistance instead of conspiring against it in order to protect the Palestinian people’s presence and their national cause against the dangers threatening them.
