Syria in Past 24 Hours: Syrian Army has dispatched hundreds of fresh forces and a large volume of military equipment to Idlib

The Syrian Army has dispatched hundreds of fresh forces and a large volume of military equipment to Idlib to intensify attacks on terrorists, field sources reported on Wednesday.

The sources said that the army has forwarded two convoys, consisting of 10 tanks and over 15 armored vehicles with a sum of 200 fresh soldiers to the newly-liberated Abu al-Dhohour airbase in Southeastern Idlib.

In the meantime, hundreds of fresh army men have been sent to Southern Aleppo, especially to the town of al-Hadher, the sources said, adding that the army is planning to reinvigorate its forces in Eastern Idlib to free the town of Saraqib from terrorists.

Also on Wednesday, the Al-Nusra Front accelerated looting infrastructures in Idlib province as the Syrian Army troops are rapidly advancing against terrorists in Northwestern Syria, a local source reported.

The sources reported that Al-Nusra has recently tried hard to disassemble power plant installations in the town of Saraqib in Eastern Idlib to transfer them to other terrorist-held region and sell them the in black market.

The sources said that civilians in Saraqib have been preventing the terrorists from plundering the power plant facilities as the army is preparing to kick off an imminent operation to free Saraqib and the Syrian Air Force are pounding terrorists’ positions in the region.

Also in the past 24 hours, the Syrian Army troops captured more regions near the newly-freed Abu al-Dhohour airbase in Southeastern Idlib after heavy fighting with Al-Nusra Front.

The army men stormed the positions of Al-Nusra positions West of Abu al-Dhohour airbase and imposed control over the villages of Albaraqisi, al-Zahbiyeh, al-Salehiyeh, Tawil al-Halib, Tal Khatra, Maqara Mazra’a and al-Sukariyah.

The army soldiers further advanced and won back the Air-defense Unit Base near Abu al-Dhohour airbase West of Tawil al-Halib.

The army units continued to push towards the key town of Saraqib in Eastern Idlib after the recent advances West of Abu al-Dhohour.

Dara’a

A number of gunmen have been killed and wounded in a fresh round of clashes between terrorists groups affiliated to the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in Northern Dara’a, dissident-affiliated websites disclosed on Wednesday.

The websites reported that al-Waliyah Mojahedi Houran gunmen and Ahfad Omar Brigade, two FSA-affiliated groups, engaged in fierce clashes in the town of Ankhal in Northern Dara’a, leaving at least three gunmen dead and several more wounded.

The sources said that curfew has been declared in Ankhal following the clashes, adding that the infighting erupted after one of the members of al-Waliyah Mojahedi Houran was executed by one of the commanders of Ahfad Omar Brigade.

Also on Wednesday, a notorious commander of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) was killed and another FSA commander was injured in remote-controlled bomb blasts in their vehicles in Dara’a province, dissident-affiliated websites reported.

The news websites reported that a field commander of the FSA-affiliated Jeish al-Thowrah was killed in a remote-controlled bomb planted in his car as he was driving on a road near the town of Seida in Eastern Dara’a.

The websites further said that Hossein Mahamid nom de guerre Abu Ali Dushka (DShK), a field commander of Ferqa Aswad al-Sunna affiliated to the FSA, was also critically injured after a remote-controlled bomb in his car went off in Dara’a al-Balad district in Southern part of Dara’a city.

Local sources said that the rival terrorists had planted the bombs in the FSA commanders’ vehicles.

Deir Ezzur

A number of civilians have been killed or wounded in the US-led collation airstrikes, local sources in Southeastern Deir Ezzur reported on Wednesday.

The sources said that the US fighter jets conducted heavy bombardment on the village of al-Bahara in Eastern Deir Ezzur, killing three civilians and wounding several more.

Field reports said that some of the injured are in critical condition.

Damascus

The terrorist groups stationed in Eastern Ghouta of Damascus attacked the plane carrying the Syrian delegation upon its return from the Russian city of Sochi where they tookfto part in the Congress of the Syrian National Dialogue.

The Arabic-language al-Hadath news reported on Wednesday that the terrorists launched several missiles at the Damascus international airport as soon as the plane carrying participants in Sochi conference landed in the Syrian capital.

The report said one of the missiles hit near the runway and only 50 meters away from one of the planes which had landed 10 minutes earlier.

No casualties were reported in the missile attack.
