Jalili to meet foreign envoys in Istanbul

The secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council is to hold meetings with a number of foreign delegates on the sidelines of the multifaceted P5+1 talks in Turkey.

Saeed Jalili, who headed Iran’s delegation in the talks, participated in Istanbul’s Friday prayers, which was also attended by Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.

Jalili was warmly welcomed by Turkish worshippers in Istanbul’s Sultan Ahmed Mosque, who circled around him and chanted slogans against Israel and the United States.

The Iranian negotiating team then left for the negotiations venue to attend meetings with a number of envoys.

Iran held the first round of comprehensive talks between Iran and the representatives of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council — Britain, China, France, Russia and the US — plus Germany on Friday in Istanbul’s Ciragan Palace.

The negotiations between the two sides ended in a “positive atmosphere,” according to a Friday statement by the Supreme National Security Council.

“Both sides have agreed to continue talks based on agreements made at the third Geneva talks,” which were held on December 6-7, the statement added.
