‘Iran’s non-oil exports double’

Iran’s non-oil exports, excluding gas condensates, have more than doubled from early August 2009 to late June 2011, according to the Iranian industry minister.

Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mehdi Ghazanfari said on Friday that the Islamic Republic exported 111 million tons of non-oil products, excluding gas condensates, worth about $50 billion, from August 5, 2009 to June 21, 2011, which approximately coincided with the first two years of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s second term in office .

Ghazanfari noted that the volume of Iran’s non-oil exports, excluding gas condensates, stood at about $23.4 billion and the figure, including gas condensates, hit $27.2 billion during the first two years of Ahmadinejad’s first term in office, which began in August 2005.

He went on to say that Iran exported $61 billion worth of non-oil commodities, including gas condensates, during the first two years of the second Ahmadinejad administration, which began August 2009.

China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, and India are the top four destinations for Iranian exports, with about 60 percent of the overall export value, Ghazanfari stated.

He also named the UAE, Germany, China, Turkey, South Korea, and Switzerland as the biggest importers to Iran, accounting about 60 percent of Iran’s imports.

On Tuesday, Iranian Economy and Finance Minister Shamseddin Hosseini said that Iran’s non-oil exports witnessed a 42.5-percent increase in the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21), compared to corresponding period of the previous year.
