Over 2m Brits hit by gov’t benefit cuts
Over two million British soldiers, nurses, and teachers will be hit by the coalition government’s benefits crackdown, a recent report says.

The report by Children’s Society charity revealed that up to 40,000 soldiers, 300,000 nurses and 150,000 school teachers will have their incomes slashed by the benefits cap implemented by Chancellor George Osborne.

Moreover, 510,000 cashiers, 44,000 electricians and 1.14 million secretaries and administration assistants will face the same cuts to their earnings over the next three years.

“The one saving we could make is that I don’t eat a few days a week. It sounds extreme but we already walk everywhere. My son now wears adult clothes so that is an added cost as well”, IT consultant Karen O’Brien said.

O’Brien, who earns £500 a week, would lose £296 a year by 2015.

“I don’t know how they expect us to survive. I would love to see some of them live on the money we get”, she added.

The findings by the report seem to contradict Osborne’s stated intention of being fair to hard-working people as the plan will hit a whole range of the Britain’s most trusted professionals.
