Karbala uprising from Sunni’s viewpoint

Sunni cleric Molavi Abdol Hamid in an exclusive interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA), held Imam Hussein (PBUH) as a perfect symbol of humanity, freedom and justice for not just the Muslims but all the people around the world and in their lines, He stood against tyrants of his time not for material greed but for reviving humane and Islamic values.

“He did not succumb to cruelty and in the long run along with his children and his companions martyred preferring a death with dignity to the life of humiliation,” said the religious cleric.

The religious cleric beckoned to willful moves against Muslims in Islamic countries stressing, “Pious and religious people, obviously enough, are targeted by enemies while they are trying to act correctly and based on code of ethics,” said the Friday Prayer Leader of Zahedan.

“It is proven beyond a shadow of doubt that those who shed the blood of Muslims are in the guise of Islam and have nothing to do with this divine religion,” underscored the Sunni cleric.

The featured religious thinker highlighted the event of Karbala as the day when all of righteousness stood against all of falsehood and indeed it was the message of Imam Hussein, of standing up for righteousness, of standing up against tyranny, one that has been echoing throughout generations.

“The event of Karbala is second to none during human history, and those perpetrated such tragedy brought shame on Muslims,” said the Sunni cleric Molavi Abdol Hamid.

“We should learn the lessons of resistance, tolerance, courageous and sacrifice from the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (PBUH) and the tragedy of Karbala,” pointed out the Friday Prayer Leader of Zahedan.

Elsewhere in his remark, the featured cleric stressed the religious figure is deeply revered by Sunni clerics and people in Sistan and Baluchestan and other Sunni quarter of Iran.

“We are not indifferent toward the history, while everyone has his own takes and views and we are not an exception in this regard,” said the religious cleric.

Molavi Abdol Hamid highlighted the standing commonalities among Shiite and Sunni stressing in spite of many a commonality among Islamic sects and denominations, we have different takes in minor issues including the hows of organizing and performing mourning ceremonies.

“We expect out Shiite brothers to hold mourning ceremonies which does not lead to disunity and dispersion among Muslims,” said the grand cleric noting “parting Muslims has been aim for enemies since day one.”

Shia Muslims around the world commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (PBUH). Millions of people, dress in black, take to the streets and mosques to mourn the tragedy.

On the contrary, “Sunni people have different tradition for similar moments and changing the color of clothes does not indicate mourning time in their lines,” said Sunni cleric Molavi Abdol Hamid while urging people to respect different takes and thoughts.
