Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrisov and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) President Peter Maurer have separately congratulated Mohammad Javad Zarif on his appointment as Iran’s new foreign minister.
According to IRIB, in a message on Monday, Idrisov expressed hope that close relations and cooperation between Kazakhstan and Iran would further flourish in the future to serve the interests of both nations.
He also voiced his country’s readiness to host talks between Iran and the 5+1group — China, Russia, France, Britain and the US plus Germany, over Tehran nuclear energy program.
The Kazakh foreign minister wished Zarif good health and success, and the Iranian nation progress and development.
Moreover, the ICRC president extended his felicitations to the new Iranian foreign minister on his appointment to the top diplomatic post in a telephone conversation on Monday.
Maurer said that he is willing to travel to Iran in order to survey the country’s facilities for relief operations.
Zarif, for his part, expressed hope that preparations would be made soon to facilitate Maurer’s visit to Tehran.
Zarif officially started his work as Iran’s new foreign minister on August 17, replacing Ali Akbar Salehi.
