Over 70 foreign delegates in Tehran to attend Pezeshkian’s swearing-in ceremony

More than 70 foreign delegates, including senior officials and secretary generals of regional and international bodies, are set to attend Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian’s swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday in Tehran.

Presidents, vice-presidents, deputy ministers, parliament speakers, ambassadors, and some 600 domestic and foreign journalists will join the ceremony where 69-year-old Pezeshkian will be sworn in as Iran’s president in the parliament.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Chairman of Uzbekistan’s Legislative Chamber Nuriddinjon Ismailov, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, Congolese Foreign Minister Therese Kayikwamba Wagner, and Vice-President of Brazil Geraldo Alckmin, have arrived in Tehran.

Other officials who have traveled to Tehran to take part in Pezeshkian’s inauguration include European Union Deputy Foreign Policy Chief Enrique Mora, Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Tsuge Yoshifumi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Korea Chung Byung-won, and Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Zhang Ming.

Pezeshkian will take the oath of office before Iranian lawmakers, the Judiciary chief, members of the Constitutional Council, the head of the Assembly of Experts, senior military officials, and ministers in the previous administration.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei formally endorsed Masoud Pezeshkian as Iran’s new president on Sunday.

In a decree, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “The fate-determining test of the presidential election ended with calmness and sobriety in difficult conditions thanks to the endeavors of people and officials, and the person chosen by the nation became ready to take on a great responsibility.”
